Embracing the beauty of autumn

In just one week, I moved from the sunny shores of Ibiza to the snowy landscapes of Sweden and now find myself back in my rain boots as the snow has melted away. It’s been a journey of transitions, much like the changing seasons…

I like to explore the theme of autumn this week and its transformative qualities. It’s crazy how quickly nature changes. It’s actually a perfect time to reflect on the changes in nature and within ourselves. So what is the essence of autumn and how can it inspire our yoga and meditation practice?

Autumn is a season that invites introspection and self-discovery. It’s a time of transformation, much like the leaves that change color before falling to the ground. The trees let go of what no longer serves them, and so can we.

Our personal autumn story

As we have been living in Sweden for a year now, it is starting to feel normal. We are beginning to put down roots. The big changes of the past year now feel like fertile soil to build upon. However, there are still some big changes for us. Dennis, my husband, has dedicated over three decades of his life to the world of IT. Nevertheless, he finds himself at a crossroad, facing a shift in his career path. Unlike me, Dennis doesn’t really like change, so letting go of his former job is tough. Fortunately, he is also very much inspired, working with a Swedish job coach and exploring opportunities for his future in this beautiful country.

I’m super proud of his resilience and dedication, and I draw inspiration from his courage to step outside his comfort zone. To take an uncertain road can be scary, especially when making big steps like these. Yet, witnessing how Dennis is embracing his own season of change reminds me of our power to adapt, evolve, and bloom in unexpected ways. I know we will overcome the uncertainty together: letting go in autumn, finding stillness and inspiration in winter, and then discovering something new to build and grow in spring.

Online yoga session on Autumn
